It looks very much like the Wallace jacket except no sporran cutaway.

    It's way too long, SO...

Save yourself a bundle-- just wear a regular spots coat with your kilt-- it won't look any worse that that does.

If it works for you, then go ahead and purchase it. I prefer the Montieth.

I think the Montieth with a red waistcoat underneath would look very sharp, myself..

I think I would pass on this for the sole reason that other kilties would be tempted to tell me to get a jacket apprpriately cut for the kilt.

I would probably go with the modern jacket offered by my kiltmaker.
The cut in the back is high enough to not interfere w/ 'the seat'.

There really is a difference in the length of the normal sports coat and what works best for a kilt. The kilt jackets is shorter and works much better for wear with the kilt.
I don't have any problem with the front cut of the coat. If one looks at some of the older paintings of kilts one sees that some of them were cut just as modern coats in the front even though they were wearing sporrans. I do, however, prefer that the front be cut away a bit.

I love my own tweed kilt jacket, but can only wear it with a traditional kilt as my UKs (what I usually wear) sit at my 'jeans' waist level and make the tweed with the high sporran cut away look like it doesn't fit me.

These lower front cut jackets would look fantastic with a black Mocker UK or a USA Casual Kilt at jeans waist cut.
