Contemporary for the first, you will get allot more wear out of it, get "used" to the attention, and not be worried about ruining an expensive wool kilt. I have two UKs that I wear almost all the time, just very recently got a traditional one, before I can even wear it out I still need to get a black belt, sporran, etc...with the UKs or MUG what ever you want to call it...easy to wear around the house, doing chores, hiking, whatever, without thought of damaging it, most are designed to take the abuse, My UK workman is nicknamed by my family the Armour kilt...it is that tough, Ive worn it as a contractor in Iraq, roofing, spliting wood...etc
