I was basically thinking the same thing tonight.
As posted in my other thread, I wore my Carolina tartan tonight.
I also absolutely love my Morrison red in the ancient hue...

Waiting on my B&S casual Scott Red modern to arrive, guess that will be my favorite when I get it. While I am waiting, I am not sure I like it at all.

Well I'd have to say my favourite Red kilt would have to be the Royal Stewart by Barb Tewksbury
Followed by the MacDonald of Sleat by Matt Newsome
Lately I've been wearing my MacPherson Red from Canadian Casual kilts
Not sure if it is a true red but I have to say the Maple Leaf is high on the list, again from Canadian Casual Kilts
Of course I love my other Red tartans as well.

I've never worn a red kilt, but if I turn out to be a competent drummer, my first one may be the Inverness in modern colors.
My favorite red tartans are the Caledonia, the Stewart of Atholl, the MacRurie/MacRory, and the Matheson. One's a universal tartan, two I have family links to, and the Matheson I just like.

Forrester MOdern is red with roughly equal amounts of green and blue so probably not enough red to qualify. After that would be my MacDonald of Glencoe Muted from Hoe 13oz, although that one is a bit snug to wear right now. Five more pounds and I am there.

First contender is the one I've worn all my life (Wallace, here given in the House of Edgar muted colors). Carolina fabric in hand, kilt TBA. I'm also very fond of Caledonia and MacNaughton in the ancient colors.

red enough?
Well, my Ancient Roxburgh Red might not be "red" enough to qualify, but I'll let the rabble judge that...

Fluter, the muted Wallace is a dream, don't remember seeing it before, really like the colors.
