KC's third pro sports franchise
I'm only 45, but as someone who now realizes that a lot of today's pro athletes are young enough to be my kids, it makes me smile a wee bit when Tom Watson (known in his heyday as Kansas City's third professional sports franchise, along with the Royals and Chiefs) posts a -5 at Turnberry and is one shot off the lead just two weeks from his 60th birthday.
I have no pretense that he'll be able to maintain this pace, but doggone it, it shows that sometimes composure, accuracy and the experience of a champion can offset space-age equipment and hitting off the tee like a gorilla.
Why, a child of five could understand this. Quick -- someone fetch me a child of five!

And the fantastic putts for Watson continue today.
What a show!

I think he can do it, particularly if the winds keep blowing. He has the links experience to stay out of trouble. The younger guys who haven't been there before will continue to make mistakes, witness Marino's collapse.

...And he has just lost, shame, would of been great to see the old boy win.

When he gagged on the putt on 18, I somehow knew the playoff was academic. He looked every day of his 59+ years once the playoff started. He was one of my idols as a kid. This bums me out.

KC's solid
'Fraid I can't comment on golf, but your footbal program is better than their record. Should turn the corner a bit this year. Herm made some good foundational moves on the lines, but took too long to win with them.
I hadn't paid attention before, but there's a Chiefs fan in one of my FFL's that wins with chiefs that the rest of us had undervalued. With AZ's offensive coordinator now at the helm, they're looking like sleepers in the making.
Good squad.

Although I enjoy watching some aspects of this mutant version of football, all the special teams and the 4 hour time span turns me away from it.
I like the look of arena? football, looks quick and the games arent as long, is that correct?

Very fast, but a small audience. The whole league took the year off this year.
Tampa Bay Storm are the ManU of Arena. 6 titles.

Tom has nothing to be ashamed of. For 72 holes of difficult play, he held his own against the best players in the world. All of we senior golfers felt a little younger for a while. I play in a senior group which has 125 members ranging from 60 to 85. Tom gave us all inspiration. He proved that, at least for a while, wisdom and a bionic hip can overcome youth and flexibility. In the end, it came down to his old problem, the yips on short putts. I would love to send him an email, thanking him for the memories, both past and present, but I have, so far, been unable to locate any contact info.
