Oldmeldrum Sports photos
here's a few pics from today's Oldmeldrum Highland Games/Meldrum Sports. it is the first time i have been to this particular event and i was hoping for something special as it is one of the biggest in the are. however, it was quite a poor turnout - nowhere near as busy as other games i have been to... and aside from myself, the pipeband members and the games participants/judges, i only saw half a dozen people in kilts.
make an effort people!!
oh, and are you ready to play Spot The Tartan? (click the thumbs for bigger versions)

A great set of pictures. It looks like decent weather, a good setting and an impressive array of bands. Why do you suppose the turnout was so small?

i really don't know why the turnout was so bad. i've heard so many great reviews from people about past events... maybe i was just unlucky.
i did get stopped by a group of Americans when i was there. they all wanted to pose for a photo with me. i wanted to ask if any of them were XMarkers but i didn't want them thinking i was some kind of nutter.

Looks like it was a nice day for the games. Next year may be a better turnout.

Yeah, I run a theatre and turnouts have been harder to predict than ever this last year. We suspect it has something to do with the economy, but there's no pattern so who knows really....
Understand about the "nutter" thing. For me, I've gotten to the point where I figure there's two type of folks: those who think I'm nuts and those who know for sure.

Two good sets of pics there, thanks for showing us these games from the north-east, I usually only attend games in the south of Scotland or the central belt.
