It takes some getting used to but kilts really need to be worn a lot higher than we are used to wearing trousers (at least modern ones)

An inch higher would be very near my armpits, I'm afraid. I actually hiked it up quite a bit already to show the knees. I do wear my jeans at my hips, like most people, but I understand that the kilt is worn high, and I think that two inches or so above the navel is what I'm comfortable with. It's still quite a bit higher than I wear pants or shorts. If I'm wearing a formal jacket with this kilt, I'll hike it up as far as it needs to go for the proper length because the top is concealed anyway, but I think I may violate the "two fingers above the knee" rule for length when I wear this one out to games, because my tucked in T-shirt conceals nothing, and I'd rather have my waist comfortable than show my bonnie knees.
