Well it has never been disclosed when and how The Thing was gifted with his name.......some say that his lineage goes all the way back to Adam and Eve. The Truth is we shall never truely know.......!
Will The Thing ever reveal to us this Truth....! Who knows what goes on in the head of The THING.

I am an avid fly fisher. Most artificial flies fall under 1 of 3 catagories; streamer, nymph or dry. Although not a dry fly purist I probably enjoy catching fish on dries the most. My avatar is of a dry fly pattern called "Patriot". The original tie had a more muted blue. The blue in this one bolder. I've caught my fair share of trout on this pattern.

Zardoz speaks to you!
'Zardoz' of course comes from the 1974 cult film by John Boorman. It was of course the best Science Fiction film made in Ireland in 1974! I have been a card carrying member of that cult since the 70's. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zardoz
I started using Zardoz several years ago as a handle for playing NTN, a national bar trivia game. I just thought a name that is sort of it's own trivia question would be cool, for a while my Dad and I were ranked in the top 10 NTN players nationwide. I am a fount of trivial information! When I started getting on different online forums etc. it just seemed like a good handle for that too. I use it on the Ren Faire forum too, so Zardoz is my 'faire name' too.
I change the avatar from time to time, so it's whatever I like at the moment.

Well, it's "Old Hippie" because I am one.
The avatar, at present, is "Fred Natural," also known as "Mr. Natural" by R. Crumb, one of the iconic cartoonists of the time period formerly known as the Sixties. Mr. Natural and I are both bald and have beards, though I think his is nicer.
Formerly I used a colour swatch of the Hay tartan -- unique (Hay, that is) on this site, but aside from Hay I often cannot recognize other tartans, so I decided it was presumptuous of me to expect everyone else to know mine.

Since I haven't responded to this thread yet....My cats (at present 7) are my children since my wife and I have decided not to have human ones. Since I am the oldest male, Catdad seemed appropriate. As to my current avatar, it is a picture of my oldest male cat (only 4 years old) sitting in a basket of laundry fresh from the dryer! His name is Buster Boo.

My username is the name of my family glen, or strath as it's a wide glen, a few hundred feet up forming the eastern side of Loch Ness. We've had folks farming there for centuries and continue to this day. It was always known as good suppliers of fighting men for Lord Lovat.
My avatar is the Hunting Fraser (ancient) that is on my only kilt.
