Good post!
I remember being on the Isle of Jura about five years ago and, having taken a kilted walk with my family across the heather, we sat with our backs to the Paps looking out to sea.
Although my family glen, Stratherrick, is in the Highlands, by circumstance my grandad was born on Jura. We'd spent a long weekend researching family history and getting to know the 150 locals and 5,000 deer. At that moment, it all came together and the isolation brought me closer to my dear, departed relative who lived there until he was four or so.
Ah, wonderful memories...

I have always thought that the simple things in life bring the most pleasure:
A meal, made out of nothing but shared with good friends;
Just being with your significant other and together watching nature in all her glory;
The sudden wet sloppy kiss from a young child and the whisper 'I love you Daddy';
These are enough to fortify any man against the trials and woes of life. I know what you mean Robertson, there are times in life which are pure joy.
Regards
Chas
