    The Virginia Highlands, near Mt. Rogers. ith:
    It was a bit chilly, so I wore my 16oz. ancient Shaw tartan. Took about an hour nap on one of the larger boulders along the way.

    There are two places that could count. I honestly don't know which is more remote.
    1 is at the top of Ben Nevis. (There were a lot of other hikers around, though.)

    The other is in the car driving between Boise and Jackson hole. On the way home we took the scenic route and there were some long stretches of lonely road.

    The Appalachian Trail, and many others in the Great Smoky Mountains. Despite it being the most visited park in the US, once you get off the roads and get on the trails, it gets surprisingly remote.

    Here's a picture of me and the wee one hiking from the Walker Sister's Cabin. Didn't see a soul the entire hike until we hit the road.
