1000th post -- am I addicted or what?
OK fellow kilties, my name is GDub and I'm a kiltoholic. As this is my 1000th post in just a few days shy of one year on XMTS, here's my story...
My wife gave me my first kilt(s) on my birthday one year ago this past Wednesday. Those 2 kilts (a black AK and an Irish National SWK standard) were a total surprise. I had never even remotely entertained the idea of wearing a kilt. I think my initial response was something like, "Um... OK... Um... Thanks..." But being somewhat less than timid I put one on and immediately thought, "Oh yeah, I can do this..." ( )
One year later I have 18 kilts:
AK -- 2
UK -- 5
SWK -- 4
USAK -- 4
SK -- 3
I've worn a kilt to every gig the band has played since (that's 30 something gigs). I wear a kilt everyday (usually an SK) at the homestead. I wear a kilt 90% of the time I go out and about town. The only place I've yet to go kilted is to work, not because I can't but because I'm a programmer and I spend most of the work day sitting--sitting on pleats all day doesn't really appeal to me.
So, my friends, I've got it bad. But, how can something so bad feel so good?
Might as well jump!
BTW, the kilt is a USAK American Heritage semi trad. Sporran is #109 by Thorfinn. Belt and sporran belt by Ocanee Leather Works. Flat cap by Hanna Hats (worn backwards as is my won't). Lochcarron hose scrunched down on to my Skecher boots.
Kilt on!!

Ya know... it's funny --
I have an audition for a band this Tuesday night... and I was serioulsy considering going kilted. It's not a Celtic band by any means... but I think .. what the heck... Or maybe the audition will be done civilian but tell them I have a 'gimmick'.. the only kilted front man on Long Island!
hmmmmm....
oh yeah -- and by the way... you have a problem! HAHAHAHA
Great pictures though... I may have to do the same and steal your look! I wear the flat cap like that anyway and usually a black shirt.. so it's only one more garment....
