A surpising moment of kilt support

In the short time I have been posting here, there's been several instancesof "I wear my kilt litte because i can't wear it at work", or "my other half disowns me when I am kilted", so on and so forth. So I was especially this week with an occurence at work. I will now tell you a tale.

I work at a call center of about 700 people, and there is a dress cose. Now, kilts aren't listed, and the little research I did do with regular employees, they said just as a item of heritage it'd fly, and some management people said it either fits under shorts or skirt guidelines, so at the very least on casual day you can wear it. Possibly unopposed every other day (if worm properly, with a shirt, maybe a waiscoat).

So I was in out little internet access room checking on my scotweb order. Walk out and cross the center manager in the hallway, this guy is 2nd generation canadian-italian, and you can tell. He is the center manager, but not in charge of the dress code at all. Anywho, greets me, asks where I had been, I told I am I had ordered a kilt and was checking the status. immediate interest.."oooh are you scottish?" I told him yes, by descent. After a short exchange:

"So you'll have to show me a photo of this kilt when you get it!"

"Well, Joe, can I wear it to work, at the very least on casual day?"

"You know what, yes, yes you can, and if your team manager says anything, tell her I approve of it because i want to see it. If anything else is said, send her to me"

He then says bye as he is walking away, and I am left with a huge smile on my face.

And this guy is italian!! fantastic, haha.

Ziggy, Congratulations! That is great. I wish my employer had the same attitude as yours. It just goes to show that people of other cultural backgrounds find the kilt fascinating. Post some photos when you can.

My experience re kilts in the workplace is that lots of times, it doesn't come from sources you expect it to, but then it'll come out of right field. That's always fun.

Great response. Maybe that's the first step toward an amendment to the company's dress code, stating kilts are acceptable wear for employees.
