Actually, the commitment of the officers and men of the Atholl Highlanders is a pretty serious responsibility.

I understand your meaning, & while I'd mostly agree with you on this, I also personally know a few 18th & 19th century "reenactment" groups whose members commitment to the unit, its history (both historical & living history) & each other are very serious indeed, and I for one wouldn't question it. The "Hessians" of v.Donop's regt come to mind right away.

The 7th US Infantry ("The Cottonbalers"), who do War of 1812, Seminole War and Mexican War impressions also comes to mind.

Sometimes people ask whether it is ok if their kilts and plaids don't match. If you look carefully at the photos of the Atholl Highlanders you will note that while their kilts and plaids are the same tartan (Murray of Atholl), they are in different color schemes. The kilts are in the dark "modern" colors, while the plaids are in a more subdued muted shade. Nice effect, in my opinion.

The last time I saw them parade, I counted three different shades of tartan either in the kilt, or, plaid, or, both.I certainly counted two different plaid hues in their pictures at the gathering of the clans.I agree with you Matt all very nice and typically Highland.
