Finally! It's finished
Well, I finished my kilt! And sporran, and garters! Just in time for the Highland Games in Pleasanton.
I met up with the rabble and had a terrific time. Thanks to Jamie, Star, Richard, and the rest of the Rabble for making my first kilted experience so enjoyable. And thanks to all the X-markers for helping me on this journey. I could not have done it without you. Everything from how to get in the car without flashing the world and sitting down without showing the world what God gave me to the “proper” placement of the sporran. (Although sitting in some of those low slung folding chairs is a bit of a challenge.)
And a special thanks to Alan H for pointing out every crooked pleat.
Funny thing: Here I am in my first kilt and I am at a vendor booth looking at sporrans. A woman standing next to me asks a question about sporrans having three tassels. The sales person could not answer so I chime in that some sporrans have more than three and blah, blah, blah... and show her my sporran with three functional tassels and that style followed function. She then asked if these are for men or women. Yes, it's a “man purse”….The short part of this story is that I (with my limited knowledge) knew more about sporrans than the sales person.
Anyway, it was a great day! Not quite sure about the half-naked seven foot tall viking, however.
One down and many more on the way!
Maybe Isle of Sky, or an X-kilt, or a box pleated kilt.
And a couple of jackets.
And a few sporrans.
And......uh oh! I think I'm hooked!

You have to accept that wearing a kilt makes you a target for a million and one questions including "The Question"

Thanks Sarge,
The tartan is Keith & Austin Ancient. (I'm the Austin part)
I lucked out in that my clan tartan is one that I really like.
My philosophy is keep the accessories subtle and let the tartan speak for itself.
