Looks like a great way to spend a day.

I didn't feel as bad the day after as I did the last time!
We've been busy, sorry. I know I promised more photos the next day, but we've been crazy busy with the kids starting school, working in the back yard (putting in a new lawn-ask Jamie about that one!) and various other things.
My favorite event this time around was weight for distance. I never got the chance at hammer-was trecking to the bathroom with the kids at that point I think. Jamie actually did pretty well with weight over the bar, although in his case, once the bar was raised over 8 ft, it was weight under the bar.
Here are some weight for distance shots. I started with a 28 pound weight. That was too much to do comfortably-look at the expression on my face.
I was happier with the 14 pound weight, and played around with it for quite a while (thus the very sore shoulder yesterday and the day before)
Here's a real athlete.
My favorite pictures were from weight over the bar (I guess that's actually weight for height, but whatever). I took a lot of pictures. I don't do this one, because, no matter how much I reassure myself that that thing is not going to come down and wack me on the head, my body doesn't believe it and I always find myself scooting out of the way.
We had several folks with really good form.
Here, Jamie is just trying out the feel of it (he's not throwing a weight, just trying the form without one).
Here's a real throw, by a real pro, the Incredible Bethany:
Smayniac wasn't half bad either!
Here's Panache actually throwing (I think he made it over on this one too!)
Congratulations were in order after this.
Payback!
All that's left is caber, which may not be posted for a few more days, considering how wacko the schedule is in this household.
I also thought I had some amazing pics of Alan H doing weight over the bar, but I can't seem to find them.
Until later...
Be well,
Star

Here's hard work for you!
Caber.
I still can't turn the thing, but at least this time I was able to pick it up without help. Well, at least with minimal help anyway.
Here's right before I managed to throw it (not turn it mind you, just throw it)
Video shows how it's supposed to be done-this is Ian, he's the shortest guy that was there (not the smallest mind you, just the shortest). Alan kept trying to get him to take his shirt off and show his "6 pack". Never did happen. Sigh. Oh, well.
That's all for the throw party. Now I'm gonna go over and check out the Pleasanton Games pictures.
Be well,
Star

Wow, nice turn Ian. Thanks for posting the photos for us Starr. You folks out there on the west coast always seem to be having so much fun. I'm going to have to try to make it out to see you all sometime.
Where were you folks holding your "games"?

This was at one of the althetic fields at Stanford University (Alan works there). There were soccer players on the other field-it was amusing when they showed up, saw us throwing large metal objects, rocks and tree trunks and decided that the other field was a better choice !
Be well,
