How old are they when they start school in France??
3 years old.
Kindergarden has 3 levels, small, medium and older sections. When they are six they actually start elementary school but they already know how to read, write… and behave in a classroom.

Beautiful countryside, that must be a pleasant walk to school. Does it get a bit hazardous in wintertime?

In winter they use their sleighs down the path and climb back up using their snow shoes.
We have the privilege to live in one the most beautiful spots on earth and ideal for wearing the kilt (temperature hardly ever goes above 75°), but we do have a price to pay.
I guess we have to look at the sunny side of things.
Best,
Robert
