You defeatist!

Sure, the chances of Scotland qualifying for the World Cup, let alone winning it, are small. However, I'd still like us to get there and be drawn in the same group as, say, Brazil (as usual) or, preferably, England.

Sometimes it's the occasion that counts as much as the hoped for success. If I didn't get involved in things just because I thought I, or those I'm supporting, wouldn't win, well, life'd be pretty restrictive and dull, I feel.

That's why, for example, I support my youngest son in playing his rugby, though his team haven't even scored a try for three seasons! But, the lads love the chance to get together, even if they're slow, overweight or just not the brightest bulb in the box. It keeps them fit and part of their peers' world, otherwise many of them would be isolated.

So, sure enough, it's kilt on time tomorrow for me and, hopefully, the visitor to our islands who started the thread!
