Went to Las Vegas - wore my kilts

I went to Las Vegas last week. I brought 2 kilts with me to go out in the evenings. I had a great time. Of course I got a few strange looks but nothing bad.

Wore my leather kilt to dinner and shows 2 nights: Peep Show at Planet Hollywood and Phantom Spectacular at the Venetian.

Wore my olive green cotton kilt with black leather details (missing the correct word at the moment) to dinner and shows 2 nights: Believe at Luxor and David Copperfield at MGM Grand.

At David Copperfield I happened to catch one of the beach balls tossed out in the audience to randomly select an audience member. Was told by my friends in the audience that when David saw what I was wearing his eyebrows were raised in disbelief but he said nothing. Was almost a bit daunting because I was instructed to sit on a high stool at the edge of the stage with tables of audience members at my feet. Yes, they had a direct view up my kilt and as I sat down I very firmly hit the center to keep their view limited. Other than that - it was for the most part 'successful'.

Another night we stopped at the infamous "Welcome to Las Vegas" sign. A bunch of drunk young ladies probably in their early 20s were wobbling around and of course one approached me. "Hey, are you a traditional Scot?" I politely replied, "I don't answer that question. People have to figure that out for themself." So I turned back to taking a photo of the sign with my friends watching what was going on. Well...it suddenly got cool and you guess it. Up went the front of my kilt. I was calm about it but they weren't. It certainly got a great laugh out of the other tourists there who witnessed the event. One guy with his 2 year old little girl burst out, "if you didn't want to see then you shouldn't have gone there!" They quickly left and we all continued to laugh.

I will try to post photos when I can. I have some of me sitting in a casino playing a slot machine too!

We have several Native American Casinos around here that are very popular for weddings, it is alway interesting when I walk in.... I wish I had a follow cam to see the reactions of the folks after I go by. A buddy of mine says it's better than watching punked. ith:

If it were only irregular for women to also wear skirt-like garments and experience the exact same as we gents do!... I think it would start WWIII - or at least get a lot of people put in prison!

I was at a biker rally where you tend to see a little more of what's under clothes than most places. This young 20 something girl had a plaid short skirt on and wanted to have her friend take a picture of her and me. Then she asked if she lifted her skirt, would I lift my kilt. The moment felt right, so I did. She was quite embarrassed to find out that only she had black panties on underneath. She avoided me for the rest of the weekend.

Hmmm! Did you just plant cheeks on the seat that others might have to sit on next? Or that someone might have spilled something on.

I always wonder how others handle that situation. I tend to scoop up the back of the kilt to cover the seat and sit on it instead of letting it drape all around. I also would have tucked the front a bit. Not because it would bother me if anyone saw underneath, but mostly to make them feel more comfortable.

I think that's what Brian meant by "hitting the center." I've met him and know he wears the modern style of kilts, without a sporran. So I'd be doing the same.
