My nephew's birthday party is tomorrow. King Jakob wants a Renaissance party- it seems all the festivals I dragged him to this summer made an impression. He wants me there in my Renaissance Scots garb for his friends to see. My brother and my sister in law are dressing as English nobles, and Jake's big brother is wearing a jester costume (which for him is very appropriate.) Drinks on hand are to include (ginger) ale and (root) beer. I am providing short bread and ***gulp*** American pallet friendly haggis (meaning no organ meat
) and mead for the adults. I made Jake a shield to go with the wooden sword and dirk he got this last summer. It should be a lot of fun- my baby bro and sis in law are going all out. Pics will follow. (Bear in mind that my outfit is not complete and still in the stages of getting put together- my dirk for example is not made. All I have is the 1800's style dirk that I use for cake cutting and haggis addressing at weddings, so I know it's not period- but the kids don't know that and they will love it.)
