So, um is this kinda like an SCA-meets-LARP sort of group?

It's the LA in LARP. You can role-play if you want, but most people here don't really get into that aspect too much. It's more of a sport, really. The garb lets you know you're in the game (in high school, I really didn't wear my wrestling singlet outside of matches) and your "battle name" will probably become your nickname in real life, just like with any sports team I've ever been a part of. Hmm, maybe I should put more thought into the name than I already was... I kind of forgot about that....
