Ceilidh Dress
Thanks, Paul. I had no idea I was so famous !
Fo the ceilidh - no jacket and no tie for a casual event in Scotland. I go to lots of ceilidh in Scotland.
Whatever you wear, you will have a whale of a time.
PS Dont forget to take your camera !

It was the first picture that caught my eye! One of the first of the actual day - you must have arrived very early!
I'm not in any pics sadly
I'[m sure I'll have a great time... just aslong as I don't stand out on formality and I really shouldnt by just wearing a shirt, kilt, daysporran (looks better than the bovine one) and my tartan-cuffed kilt hose.
As I said - the outfits black-based so even if there were PCs and argylls being worn - I'm sure I wouldnt look too informal either... just a sort of "modern look" if you like!

My first instinct would be kilt, jumper and pulled up hose. However, I tend to always go overdressed thinking I can always thin things out. For Example I would wear the jacket, vest, shirt and tie and if I decide I am overdressed when I get there I can shed the tie and then the jacket and open the vest if if necessary.

So what did you wear, and how were others dressed?
Best regards,

Ach, it's only quarter to one in the morning here. I'm hoping he's not back at home yet. It's a ceilidh, remember.
Enjoy every sandwich.

Wore a shirt and tweed jacket... took the jacket off as soon as I got there. One guy was also there in a tweed and shirt and 2 were in an Argyll with shirt, no tie.
Here's a pic!

IMHO:
Left: Belt and sporran and sporran belt too fancy. Knee exposure great!
Middle: Sporran too low (wear higher when sans belt). Mismatch mid-shade brown sporran with dark hose. Knee exposure too conservative.
Right: Bonnie Lassie! Also excellent use of tartan!

I had to show a bit of bling! and David's wearing his kilt just as most people do in modern Scotland - at the very bottom of the knee and with the sporran hanging to the middle. I dont think it looks great - but most people around here do it!

I like the look of the outfit in the middle, the check shirt and brown sporran in particular, very natural looking and uncontrived. That is also a very "bonnie lass" on the right.
