I'm sure their comments would go over quite well!
Especially since the ONLY remaining Highlander Regiments in existance are one in Australia (16th Battalion, Royal Western Australia Regiment (Cameron Highlanders)), two in South Africa (Capetown Highlanders, and Pretoria Highlanders), and ten in Canada (the 48th Highlanders of Canada, The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada (Princess Louise's), The Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment) of Canada, The Calgary Highlanders, The Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa, The Nova Scotia Highlanders, The Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders of Canada, The Royal Highland Fusiliers of Canada, The Seaforth Highlanders of Canada, and The Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Highlanders).

Thats counting only the Highlander units. There are many other Regiments that are titled Scottish or Scots, but are not specifically "Highlanders". So, just for the purpose of these statistics, I've chosen to not count units like the Canadian Scottish Regiment - it isn't because I don't like them or anything, I've just restricted it to specifically Highlanders.

In the UK they've all been amalgamated with non-Highland units into the Royal Regiment of Scotland. Admittedly, many of these historical Regiments are being perpetuated by companies, but they have ceased to exist as separate Regiments in the order of battle.

So, if you look at it from a military point of view, Canada is carrying more Highlander and Scottish Regimental traditions than the United Kingdom is.

Food for thought for all the uber-Scots out there.

BTW, I mean my comments above as a response to the not so terribly wise Youtube comments, and are not in any way, shape, or form, directed to anyone on this forum.

I see what you mean, the comments on there are immature IMO.

I agree... I enjoyed the videos, and the comments were laughable.

    Canadian Black Watch

This video is new to me. The father of a very good friend was a member of the Canadian Black Watch at it was to honor this man that I had my first kilt tailored. Thank you for posting these links.

Very interesting...thanks for the link. Does anyone know how the original regiments that came over got the name 'Black Watch'?
