You are stepping out of the norm... and thats why you get the thumbs up... wear what you want.. accept the compliments.. and if asked.. tell them you just enjoy being different.. Goth or not...

Not a goth here, but they seem OK. There are many worse groups that you could be associated with. Why fight it? Perhaps you should embrace it?
I probably don't dress much like a goth too often, but with long hair I find it's pointless to deny being a hippie.
On the subject of hair, some goths have long hair too, so I don't think growing it out would make much difference to whether people perceive you as a goth.
I've wound up on webpages of goth clothing stores sometimes when searching for kilts. They do wear them, and manskirts too. Usually black, LOL! Their penchant for black clothing, and often in leather or PVC, seems to matter more to them than whether their lower garments are bifurcated or not.

Well, at the risk of sounding pretty insensitive, but your description of yourself sounds pretty Goth-like. The old saying is that if it looks like a duck . . .
All the advice about some color will help. But black clothes, shaved head, and earrings do tend to give the appearance of a goth, so take action. You can put a quick stop to all the goth stuff.

lol, maybe the people who gave you the thumbs up weren't Goths, either?
I wouldn't worry about it.
