Group Buy - Tartan Cycling Wear
****Disclaimer - This group buy is not an XMTS tartan project. It is simply an attempt to organize enough buyers to justify the cost of producing bicycle clothing in a universal tartan.****
I know we have several cyclists in our ranks. What would the interest be in setting up a group buy for some tartan cycling gear? Jersey, Shorts, head gear,..... This stuff simply isn't on the market so if it's ever going to be an option, it's going to be up to us to do it.
We will need to come to a consensus on what tartan to use but there are so many universal tartans to choose from we should be able to pick one reasonably easy.
For now lets just start with is there any interest. Once we see if it's worth the effort, then we will move on to the details.

I am a cyclist, but I am not sure whether I want a pair of Tartan Shorts.

I'd be interested in the idea. Primarily in tartan shorts or bibs (preferably bibs, shorts would be okay). have enough jerseys and such, and the only headgear I wear when cycling is a helmet.

What I envision is some sort of active wear with tartan on it. I love wicking fabric shirts.
What about a jersey/shirt? Or something with just a panel of tartan on it (down the leg, across the chest or on the arms). Maybe it won't even be "cycling" wear. Maybe it's simply a shirt made of wicking fabric. Maybe it's a cap/visor or a buff. There really are many possibilities.
Maybe the tartan starts on one shoulder and then fades across the body into the solid base color of the tartan. I have no photoshop to offer a visual aid but hopefully that gives a good mental image. Sort of like this but with tartan I'm just using the jersey for examples. whether it's shorts, bibs, jerseys or whatever is totally up to those who say they are interested.

I'd probably be interested in a jersey. The shorts idea is fantastic but I'm pretty addicted to the shape of the pad in Canari Pro shorts and I doubt we could get those.

I dunno, I'm not big on cycling gear off hand, but do any cycling brands have a tartan?

I'd be interested to see where this goes. Having seen the tarten cycling shorts in another thread, I think I'd put my vote in for a tartan jersey (or a jersey with some tartan on it).

The Garmin-Slipstream pro team has an argyle pattern down the side of their kit. Otherwise, not so much to my knowledge.

I to could be interested in this. Why don't we just us our own tartan, the XMTS tartan. And while we're at it we could add a XMTS bagde logo.
Of all the members here it must be someone working in the textile industry or the marketing industry with experience in these things.
