    It "works"... but the green looks better, would you not agree?

    FYI: that's definitely NOT to imply that it looks bad, cause a man in a kilt is a man indeed!

    That photo, I think, bears out what I was attempting to put into words.

    Note that that piper's bottle green hose are a stronger, more saturated green than the green in his tartan, and your navy blue hose are a more saturated blue than the blue in your tartan, so that the hose do not take away from the beauty of the tartans.

    Mid-grey hose might have a noticable dulling effect on either tartan, likewise dull green hose for the piper or dull blue hose for you.

    It's dark strong colours like navy blue, and dark neutral tones like charcoal grey and black, which are becoming so popular just now for hose.

    My only "fashion police" advice would be to have less of those bright red flashes showing from under the turnovers: note that your eye is drawn right to the flashes... just a touch of red there would balance with the red line in the kilt better I think.
