My wife and I bought an armoire type entertainment center that matched our dining room furniture. It has two levels of shelves in the upper half where the doors swing open, which are perfect for holding the bottles in rows (alphabetically ordered by my compulsive wife). The wife keeps her table clothes and placemats, etc... in the bottom drawers. Keeps them all out of sunlight and heat. Although I must admit the shelves are getting full.
I just added a bottle of Glen Scotia 12, Singleton 12, and Suntory Yamazaki 12 this weekend but have yet to have a chance to test a nip of any of them.

It was not until July2009 that I took an interest in Scotch and have just tried a few so far. The one I like the most so far is Glen Elgin. I was able to get a bottle while in Edinburgh. I hope to try many more.

Well an interesting topic to be sure,
I would have to say that I have a fondness for Irish whisky. Such as redbreast, Jameson 1780 and Middleton’s as for the Scotch whisky I would have to say Glenlivet French Oak Reserve, Glenmorangie, Glenfiddich 15yr old and a new one that I have just tried Dalmore I am also, interested in trying one of the Japanese Scotch’s

Technically what the Japanese are making is single malt whiskey, not scotch whisky. By law Scotch Whisky has to be manufactured by certain standards, one of which requires it to lie in used oak barrels for at least three years and a day on scottish soil. The japanese stuff never lies on scottish soil, therefore not scotch. But still damn fine whisky. Company called Suntory makes Yamazaki Single Malt Whiskey, the bottle I have aged 12 years. Very nice. And yes award winning for international whiskies.

I guess that was my point. I'm sure there can be fine whisky made almost anywhere if done properly........... but not Scotch.
I'm a great fan of single barrel Bourbon here in the U.S. as well other distilled spirits (some from small appalachian farms but I digress ) but they are not Scotch.
Time to peruse my local ABC store for Japanese whiskey.

Jock, you made no errors as your post is purely about whisky and japanese people learning how to make it well, but you never claimed their product to be scotch whisky. You are good with your previous statement.
I only meant to extend your statement and clarify other previous statements about the japanese whiskies, not attempt in any way to correct your wisdom and experience.
