Here is an image of me in a black silk cravat worn with Argyle jacket and kilt.
And another of myself and my wife from our Burns Supper last year. Same cravat and jacket, different kilt and waistcoat.
I'm afraid this is one of the rare occasions where Sandford and I will have to disagree on a sortorial manner. I don't see why a cravat would be out of place with the kilt at all. I think it's a nice alternative to the standard bow tie or neck tie, and adds a nice historic flair. I think a traditional cravat is far superior to the rouche tie, by the way.
I bought my cravat from a Canadian web site called the Gentleman's Jabot. Their web site was www.gentlemansjabot.com, but it doesn't seem to be up now. I do see they have some nice things on Etsy, though.
