Hoping that I can make it. Nothing at all on the schedule right now. Looking forward to being around more than just me in a kilt...

In the OP, Jim called it 1/16/10. Hate to have you show up a day late.

I'm getting confused, which isn't hard. Is it Saturday the 16th, or Sunday the 17th?

    I stand corrected Gentlemen . . . .

and chastised, and flogged, and berated, and castigated and . . .

If only I could blame it on a Senior Moment . . . but regardless we'll be there on the 16th assuming no more disasters in our eight States.

Are we full formal for Burns Night, semi-formal or just Gathering of the Rabble in assorted kilts? Time set yet, or did I miss something else in the posts while out on Disaster duty?

All the best for the SEKS in this New Year!

    Saturday the 16th for sure.

Dress will be what you think appropriate for the occsassion. I'll be in jacket and tie, some may be in PC--and I may change my mind and do the PC as well--but others will not be quite so formal. It is an evening out--not formal or black tie--but a tie and jacket are in order.

However, if you show up in a sweat shirt, no one will show you the door; we're pretty open minded in that way. One first timer from last year won't even be kilted, but he loves the evening, too.

I will need a commitment this coming week, by the 8th or 9th if possible. I have to get with Greg, the owner of the Celtic Tavern, next weekend to finalize the menu. If anyone is interested in a part in the program, let me know ASAP. Other than Turpin and Little Turpinette doing the Address to the Haggis and Lassies' Response respectively, nothing is set in stone.

Looks like it's going to be bigger and better than ever for our 4th annual Supper. I really look forward to seeing all you chaps and our ladies.

And, BTW, Tattie Shaw, be sure to remind your sweetie what a great bunch of guys we are.

    Idea for Burns Supper Programme?

Hope this isn't out of line (no pun intended, qv), but I thought someone might find interesting something done once at a Kentucke Highlanders Burns supper, to wit: lines from A Man's A Man for All That were passed out to each table, one line (or some such) per slip of paper per table; one person from each table was chosen to read that line after the table before read their line... and thus the entire poem was read down the line(s), so to speak.

I have to admit that I got a pretty good response when I belted out one of the better lines in my best "pissed-off" Scots broge:
Ye see yon birkie, ca'd a lord,
    Wha struts, an' stares, an' a' that;
Tho' hundreds worship at his word,
    He's but a coof for a' that: !

It was a lot of fun. Yall might give it a go, eh wot?

    Aye,
    Wesley
Here's tae us, Whas like us... Deil the Yin!

Well now, let's save the exaggerating for the story-telling at the supper.
