Soooooo many births in September and October that Canada has to import gyn-locums from as far away as Detroit and Seattle and midwives from Vermont and Oregon, too! Seriously, Alex, a nice, thoughful post.

My dad's family followed the same route to the US, coming from Scotland, France, Ireland and England they went to Canada, and then most ended up in the US. My grandmother once told me that when my greatgrandfather came over from Skye, all 4 of his brothers came over at the same time.
