    Edinburgh Kilt Shops

Oh dear, 0h dear, oh dear, if I let my 'merican guest run loose in here Scotland's social welfare services might never trust me to host a 'merican ever again!!

I guess I had better escort Tom through Geoffrey Tailor's shop. (Well anyway I needed an excuse to show off my new Highland Granite kilt from Lochcarron)

The loom weaves the Muir tartan at Geoffrey Tailor's.

Tom gets let loose in Geoffrey Tailor's!!

    Tom and two mannequins

A typical shop on the Royal Mile, full of stuff which the tourists will wear during their stay in Scotland but will probably never wear again!

We visited a Robert Burns themed cafe on the Royal Mile for our afternoon coffee

The Scotland Kilt Company on South Bridge. They stock a wide range from entry level items to reasonable quality kilts and sporrans. The staff were very friendly, compared to some of the more upmarket shops we visited and their young assistant was happy to pose for a photo in his Jacobite shirt and kilt in Victor Scott tartan.

Glad Tom is enjoying Edinburgh and yes the friendliness issue is one I have had to raise in the past in quality shops like GT.

Wow, Alex! I was there last Sunday and Laura used to work there afew years ago.
There are actually no Scottish people who work in the cafe at all now!
It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom -- for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.

Is Victor Scott the name of the tartan or the name of the weaver or kiltmaker?

Good pictures and a good insight. We have discussed the Royal Mile and all the various outlets so many times here. I really want to get up there and see it for myself.

    Thanks Alex.

    Regards

    Chas
