Wool and linen in kilts

The lining will be just stitched to the kilt, not woven to it. No problem. What's the reason to not combine linen and wool?

If wikipedia can be believed, then even items stitched together are not permitted. For a full explanation, do a google search for shatnez. That's what I did.
