I'm like Tobus. There are times and situations and people who amke a joke of it, and it's OK. Best to always laugh at youself because Life is to important to take it very seriously. (You can think about that statement later.)
However, I don't want any guy pulling that, and, to address the original question, I have become a little surly myself on one or two occassions. and I am still big enough and young enough to lok pretty surly. I have found that my cromach is very handy in administering appropriate justice.
I, too, give everyone a free shot at me. The first may be attributed to ignorance or mirth or alcohol. The second is considered an act of war. Young lasses do get a special handling, but being an old, beat-up, fat man, I'm pretty sure they aren't interested in me romantically,so I wave them off and send them to fetch their mothers.
That usually cools their jest!

Hey Riverkilt,
I agree 100%. Freedom is the name of the game. And that may not be the main reason i wear my kilts as much as I do but it sure ranks right up there. As for others and their curiosity, as long as I am in control of the situation they can go as far as I let 'em. Yeh, I love it and if others don't they can handle it in their on way. I've been around way to long to let the small stuff bother me.

Amen, Bro., I have always believed that if you're not laughing at yourself your not really paying attention.

Kilt checks normally don't bother me, unless there are children in the line of sight. I to think turn about is fair play and if a lass wants to see what is under mine, I should get to see what is under hers.
I was recently checked at a party, I was sitting on the couch playing PS2 and the drunk to my left kept asking if I was wearing panties under the kilt. I told him more than once, "I can tell you yes or no, but there is only one way to find out if I'm telling the truth." After about two hours he worked up the nerve to check, not once but twice. After the second I told him, "The first was free, the 2nd will cost you dinner."

She blew it off until she saw I was dead-serious. I told her that it's not really funny and quite disrespectful. Everyone else around just got kind of quiet, but after all was said and done a few came to me and said they agreed with me. I often wonder why the reaction to something that is 'new' or 'different' is to 'poke the bear'. Remember that 'poking the bear' often gets one attacked or eaten, at least where bears are concerned.
Perhaps a police report wouldn't be amiss.

If one IS wearing underwear its an easy matter to pull it up above the waistline of the kilt rather than have to lift the hem...

Too late. Though, interestingly enough, the 'offender' was at a gathering last night for St. Patrick's Day. Being kilted, I was on guard. Funny thing though, when your wife is around the 'bravery' factor of the offender goes away a bit. She avoided me the whole night... the offender that is, not my wife.

Generally speaking I am fairly easy going with the kilt checks. There have been two times, however, that I admit to having smacked a woman's hand very very hard. The first encounter involved a woman who, despite me voicing very loudly my lack of approval, thought she had the right to see what was under my kilt. I grabbed her hand away several times before she violently yanked my kilt up. I smacked her hand as hard as I could. This was a woman in her late 40's. The second time I was singing karaoke at a bar, and the encounter was very similar. I'm all for fun and games, but when someone says no its time to stop. No means no, regardless of your sex or gender.
