I have a black workman's UK and I couldn't be happier with it. The thing is more like armor than anything else. 
It does take alot of care when washing it, but thats a small set back comapred to all the great things about them.
No UK's are not traditional, but they dont claim to be either. So for comfort and freedom in everday wear without the fear of ruining them, I highly reccomend UK's.
