    Alphakilt pockets

So i'm getting ready to purchase a modern kilt. I've narrowed it to either a UK or an Alphakilt. There is an old thread buried down in the modern section where it was mentioned that alphakilts was coming out with a model featuring slash pockets and rear pockets. Does anyone know if those are available on request because I have seen no mention on the alphakilts site.

    Hi mattatacat,

I cannot answer your question, but can say this: AlphaKilts sold off all of their old stock earlier this year and gave notice that they were moving out of the kilt making business into something allied. What that is, I do not know, they did not say.

Depending on who you talk to Daron is either a saint and can do no wrong, or he is an expletive expletive and has expletived many people.

    Regards

Can you give us a little more information on what you are looking for in a Kilt?

There are others who can put pockets in Kilts and some who specialize in them.

    Alpha Kilts is not gone....

I just got a prototype kilt from Daron last week, Alpha Kilts is not longer doing business as Alpha Kilts, but they are still around. Here is an email from Daron:

Just wanted to give you a heads up about our site moving to www.geekstyleinc.com You will still be able to get the same quality product from Modern Kilts as you did from AK just with a new name. Why the new name you say? Well basically our products are on the fringe of whats acceptable wear in todays society and we want to make sure people are getting the products they are looking for. Modern kilts is a much better description of what we are selling and we hope you agree. Along with kilts we are selling a variety of new products that are as unique as our kilts. Having a variety of products also helps keep us competitive in a really rough economy. And also remember, your kilts that you have purchased still have the same warranty, free resizing and repairs for the life of the kilt. Just shoot us an email to the new site to to me directly. Take care friends and see you on the flip side!

Well I've looked at all of the modern style kilt makers that I've seen on the forum and basically what I would really like is an alphakilt with the pocket setup of the UK mocker or survival. I like the 7/8ths or so apron width and I think I would like the material they use which sounds to me like the material Dickies work clothes are made from which I am a big fan of. I am just wary of ordering from them because of the negative remark in this thread. I ignored them previously and now am still waiting 6 months past my expected arrival date from another kiltmaker who I will not name.

Sorry, I was in a hurry when I typed that last post upon review it's a little incoherent. Basically I am trying to find something that can replace my collection of baggy cargo shorts (that are soooo popular here on xmarks ) with. Hopefully, the national championship game will go my way on Monday and I can use my bracket winnings to just go ahead and get the survival because I think that's what best fits my needs. Well "needs" might be a strong word hehe. If anyone has a 42 waist one that they want to get rid of PM me!

Are you a 42 waist in jeans or a 42" waist in kilts? By a bizarre coincidence I have an older model tan UK Survivor in a 44" waist, 23" drop that I might be willing to part with if the price was right. It is not in pristine condition, but is nicely broken in. I am trying to save up for a USAK semi-trad and currently have two almost identical Survivors. Send me a PM if you are interested.

    Alpha/GeekStyle MIA

I ordered a kilt from Daron just before the transition to being Modern Kilts via Geekstyleinc.com.

It arrived several months later and was the wrong size, so with direction from Daron, I shipped it back UPS in March for alterations.

I have not yet heard back from him despite several e-mails both directly and via the (still running) alphakilts.com

Anyone else heard from Alpha Kilts recently?
