    I agree with the looking good part, but why change to a leather belt instead of the chains? I personally like the chain. I have seen similar comments on a few other posts too. Is the chain too formal? I know it may cause some wear on the tartan fabric over time, but really only if you wear it daily, right?

    Traditionally, yes, chain is for formal wear.

    I don't know if I'd agree with that. I'd agree with the INVERSE that the STRAP is for 'less formal', but I've always had chain straps with all of my sporrans and have never felt 'overdressed' in them.

    Thanks for the compliments and support everyone! I take it there isn't anything I'm doing terribly wrong then?

    The chain wearing the fabric is what really worries me (I also like the look of straps). I figure the belt arrangement will also be more comfortable as there is more surface area to disperse the weight.
