Here's an example of Clan Donald in Wilsons' colours c1800. Large sett, hand woven.

You'd more or less be correct. The Islay & Kintyre branch was known as Clan Donald South, also known as Dunnyveg and The Glens, or Clann Iain Mhor. The last chief died in 1626.

The current MacDonell of the Glens (Count Randal MacDonnell of the Glens) resides in Tangier, in the Kingdom of Morocco. Born in Dublin, he succeeded his father in both the chiefship and comital title in (as I recall) 1975. He retired to Morocco about three years ago and divides his time between Dublin, Prague, and Tangier. The heir-presumptive to the title is the count's brother, Count Peter MacDonnell, who resides in Paris.

Totally different gentlemen. Antrim, as I seem to recall, descends through the female line of a cadet branch, and became a MacDonald by change of name. Get a pre-1960 copy of Burke's or Debretts to check out Antrim's lineage.
