Some years ago when Bela Fleck and the Flecktones appeared at the Festival some of the "traditionalists" apparently expressed concern, and, when asked by a reporter about the issue... If progessive jazz played on the electric banjo was "his" kind of music, Doc just smiled and said (with that smooth, Deep Creek Carolina voice of his):
"Heck Son, any kind'a music I'm playin' at the time is "My" kind'a music!".

The Berklee College of Music awarded Doc Watson an honorary doctorate of musical arts, and in his acceptance speech, Doc said, "Thanks, fellas. This is the 5th or 6th one of these I've got." You should have heard the thousands of people laughing at the no-fuss, no-big-deal tone of voice that Doc used.

I were a lot younger when that picie was taken. Mike Butler was soooo helpful in my early kilt buying days, even called me at home to follow up, was happy to send him some pics. Never dreamed one would wind up as a poster until a couple years ago when it came out. Have one hanging in my office now. A hoot when clients ask, "Is that you??"

Mike told me what a good customer you are, Ron. A lot of people stopped in their tracks when they saw that poster.
