    I think it looks great!

Did you antique the flap before waxing it?

    Thanks for the kind words.

The flap (and the interior reinforcing panels) are dyed with Eco-Flo all-in-one, then finished with a carnauba creme for a bit more shine. I may go to an oil dye for the day sporran... It's really hard to top a nicely oiled leather.

The full sized version will most likely have the flap covered with leather to match the bag's body. Although I do have a rather nice texture I wouldn't mind setting on the flap, but I may save that for the day sporran.

This smaller scale version had to have different hole spacings for the draw string, there just wasn't the space to have them placed as needed on the full sized one. Also, the folded top 'hem' of the bag was impractical on this one, and not really needed for my little pirate, but will be used on the final full sized bag.

    Hi artificer,

I do not know where in the world you are, but here in the UK, I have used the Tandy Leather Factory many times. Here is a link to their stores:

I have always found their advice worthwhile and they have many bargains only available in-store. They currently have 'Celtic' stamps on sale.

    Regards

    Chas

    Thanks Chas,
I actually have a Tandy right down the road from me. They are very helpful, and that's where I picked up the 1/2 shoulder. They have a GREAT sale this month (at least in the US).

Regarding the stamping, I don't think I'd go 'Celtic'. I tend toward simple textures rather than actual graphics.

If you imagine the texture of beaten brass or copper, that's what I'm leaning toward. I don't yet know if I'll have to do it with a stamp or a shaped knife (or make my own stamp).

Trials will begin as soon as I find (or make) what I'm looking for.
