Returning to my Roots
Hello, all!
I've been using this forum to answer my questions about kilts and highland wear for a couple of months now and have finally decided to join in.
I started bagpipe lessons in my late teens and, after a decade-long hiatus, have recently purchased a new practice chanter and am trying to convince the wife that a set of bagpipes are a "necessary purchase".
Part of this return to piping has been an interest in Scottish culture and my own heritage. I'm located in the US but the majority of my ancestors were Scottish immigrants to the US and I've been very busy in trying to extend my family tree further back into the past.
While I am not a kilt owner (yet), I intend to be as soon as possible - though that may be some time yet!
Thanks to all of you who have already inspired and helped me - I'm very pleased to be here.
Thank you!

from the Scottish Borders.
I can identify with the decade of hiatus on the pipes. I sold my pipes to a band about ten years ago because I felt they were too good a set of pipes to be wasted on someone like me who could only scratch out a few simple tunes minus their grace notes. I eventually replaced them with a cheaper set of pipes which presently sit in a corner unplayed. One of these days.......
