Go with stainless steel; pewter "tastes" (no matter what you may be told).
I'm with MoR here, although I won't put anything too nice in my flask (and have gotten a bit of flack for it ), even though it IS stainless. I think any metal has a tinge that it imparts.
A great single malt deserves nice crystal- not metal.
Even with stainless, it seems like I've read some place that you should only leave the spirit in the flask a limited number of hours. Is that true, and if so how long is OK?

I don't know what the official word is (a search of the FDA site said nothing much) Stainless steel does contain Chromium and Nickel. My general rule is one day's festivities and the flask should be empty (or emptied at least once)
