Thanks fluter, that is the one. Most of the Marton ranges on their site don't load for me and, not knowing which one was the PV range, I gave up looking after a few. The one shown is actually really close except it doesn't show the color of the dark green line bordering the gold, and the green over check very well. Other than that, its a very accurate representation.

I guess when I saw the tartan I focused more on the yellow than the black...

NewEnglander, just to be clear, the gold is more a tan/gold color and is nowhere near the yellow in the Macmillan Old Modern. I guess this is a good time for me to learn how to load photos on this site huh?

More are rolling in. Here are three more Clanranald swatches this time from Marton Mills and a Strathmore;
upper left 13oz Ancient, upper right 16oz modern, lower right 16oz muted; and in the lower left is Strathmore's 13oz muted.
Interestingly, here is the House of Edgar 13oz muted with Marton Mills 16oz muted. The colours are beautiful both and identical!
More to come. Another week and I should have everything I need to decide. I won't, of course, be able to decide.

Apparently there has been much discussion about the tartan's legitimacy, or illegitimacy as the case may be. It is not a recognized tartan by the Chief of Clan Macmillan, hence the "controversy". The colors are much more vibrant and defined than either photos on USAK or Marton. The dark color is definitely black, surrounded by a dark burgandy/blood red, then gold with dark green and black fine lines and over check. I really like it, in spite of its outlaw status.
But as others have said to me numerous times, "if in doubt, order a swatch to make sure you like it"

A package today fro House of Edgar. No pics this time, but it means that all I am waiting on now is Lochcarron's plaids from B&S. By the end of next week I should think.

Mercy me, but I'm still waiting to see Lochcarron's cloth. I can't believe how long it's taking. It's almost like they don't want me to see what they have. Anyway, email sent to B&S to confirm that the samples are indeed on their way.
The jonesing is the hardest part.

Incredible....a couple months ago I received a swatch from them within 1 week of contacting them about it.

I ordered, and paid for, a swatch of Lochcarron from their U.S. site "Tartan and Clan" on 6/5 and am still waiting. In contrast to both House of Edgar and Strathmore who had swatches to me in under a week. Go figure!

Have faith. I sense a shift in the Tartan Force.
In fact, the postman today dropped off a large envelope of Lochcarron goodness, courtesy of Scotweb. Surely yours will be along soon!
Wallace hunting, ancient colors, 16 ounce Strome; the sett size runs about 7-3/8 by 7-5/8 inches (18.7 by 19.4 cm). It's 2 meters, for a box pleated kilt. Being under 2 kg, it came by post, and arrived about a week sooner than I really expected it.
