The Kilted Nation Kilts. Question??

Just ordered a MacDonald PV kilt (my first PV) from The Kilted Nation. For the price, it's a great bargain, and Brad is great to deal with. However, does anyone else have one of these? I don't know if it's just this kilt, or if it's characteristic of this brand, but it seems to have more of an "A" shape than my other wool and acrylic kilts. Anyone feel the same way? It's not a problem, really, just wanted to see if anyone else has the same. Thanks!

I believe those are the Heritage of Scotland kilts. I've owned a couple that I bought off ebay and was nicely pleased with them (They were just too short, and after custom fitting kilts, its hard to wear off the rack). That being said, they are a different PV than Marton Mills (At least the ones I got). They are a VERY durable material that often reminded me of Carhardt work pants material. Enjoy

Josh, you're correct...these kilts are the Heritage ones. And, yes, the material feels bomb proof. I think this will wear extremely well. Did you feel that it was cut to more of an "A" shape, though??

I had mine hemmed, from 24" to 22", and Brad sent it off to Manassas, VA. The seamstress, there, did and outstanding job. Sorry, can't remember her company's name.

I know my "NationKilt" model (similar to a UK) is a VERY heavy duty Khaki and definitely bomb-proof, I am still trying to figure out the best way to keep the pleats...but it does give me more of an "A" shape rather than a streamline, but that seems to be the UK style.

I have two PV kilts from Brad. My Blackwatch is about 3 years old now an it very cylindrical. My Heritage of Scotland is about a month and a half old and it does seem to have a bit of a flare to it, I guess it could be said it was like an A. I just attributed it to different tartan.

One thing I noticed in looking at and touching all the kilts Brad stocks is that each tartan has a different feel. The Hamilton Grey and the Heritage of Scotland are both very soft while there are others (I can't remember with 100% accuracy which so I'll not mention any) that feel like they are over starched. My Blackwatch is a middle ground between the two.

And the material is very durable. I walk to and from work and to avoid poison ivy fields (see my thread about getting poison ivy out of kilts) I walk through a construction company's parking lot. Twice now I have gotten too close to crates and snagged my kilt on heavy duty staples. Unless you know about it and where to look you can't tell.

MacFett, thanks for the input. My kilt, a PV MacDonald, has vibrant colors and it looks awesome. However, it does have a bit of a 'flare' to it, and the material is not soft at all....as you stated, a starchy kind of feel. I do, don't get me wrong, love this thing. From a distance you'd think it was wool. Upon closer inspection, just from feeling the material, you'd know it wasn't. But, hey, it's a great kilt for the money and for my specific purposes, like kickin' around in. I'll order another one, soon, from Brad. I like the McLeoid ancient!!

If those are the Heritage of Scotland "P/V" then it should be noted that it actually isn't P/V. The tip-off is that it is weighted 16 oz, which apparently doesn't exist for true polyester/viscose. The material is really 65% viscose rayon, 35% acetate fibre and is certainly heavy, tough fabric. P/V seems to be used here in more of a generic sense...

FWIW, the best deal I've been able to find on these viscose/acetate kilts is through The Scotland Kilt Company. $55 US, including free basic shipping via Royal Mail.

Try tossing it in the washing machine and line drying it. There was a huge improvement in feel when I did this with my BW PV. Don't use fabric softener though.
