Again thanks for almost all of the responces. To those curious I haven't seen the bishop yet because he was on vacation and then I visited my daughter and went to church with her and this week. This week I am in Idaho for the funeral of my brother.
I haven't decided whether or not discuss the kilt with the bishop. I am going to talk to him about the blessing but from other issues I don't think it will do any good. He will take it as an affront to his authority.
I did decide to see how another ward (mormon congregation) would view the kilt so last week all three hansen men wore their kilts (go mckenzie). Granted we were visitors so the bishop would have no reason to "talk" to us but the only responces we got were positive, most very positive. I guess it would have been interesting to have seen if the bishop there would have disapproved.
Just a note. The post about the garments was over the line because many churchs and groups use those terms to insult and belittle members. However I have found that many people who refer to them as secret, magic, undies, underwear, ect don't understand that others have used those terms to be offensive and assume he meant it as a friendly jest so I accept it that way. I hope he understands that because of how others use it members won't find it funny.
