Sorry to hear about your hammy, Pete.
Seems like a lot of that is going around right about now...
My geezer buddy Frank Lux broke his hand and competed a month ago with a cast on his right hand forcing him to throw left handed. He still went 18' in the sheaf. He got the cast off about two weeks ago and is trying to regain grip strength.
My other training buddy, in the Women geezer class, sprained her thumb last weekend at the Police Athletics up in Reno. Throwing hand, of course. That'll teach her to do the high jump.
And I was tossing the sheaf over the street light in front of my house this past Tuesday and strained a bicep. No tear, no swelling, no bruising, no ache, just feels like I did a killer set of bicep curls.
And yet, we're all going to Denver next Friday.
I'll be the one in the 60's class with the pony tail, the Indiana Jones hat, and the belt that says "o1d_dude".

Yes, the Loch Loomis Training Center as we refer to it is the center of the HG athletics in the Sac Valley. Pretty much everyone with an hour or two driving distance has trained there at least once. Quite a few World Champions there in that number. We've got all the equipment including sheaf standards set up on a permanent basis and we're always ready to throw. And we have sheep, sarsen stones, and of course, Loch Loomis on the grounds. Throwing is our passion.
Sorry you won't be there, Alan, but I understand you've got a pretty important sailing opportunity that conflicts with the MWC. As someone in a famous book once said, "There is nothing -absolutely nothing - half as much worth doing as simply messing about in boats."
