I live in a red neck town and haven't seen long hair on male for quite sometime.

No offense taken at all! The mistake is actually pretty common! He's stoked that his voice is changing and that he'll be able to grow a beard soon, so people will stop making that mistake!

I do give him a lot of credit for having the self esteem to be able to stick it out and keep his chin up!
