So pleat it to the red.
If it's a box or double box you'll only have 6-10 pleats anyhow and most of the back will be the darker blue rather than the white and you'd have twice as many red stripes showing too.
PM me your email and I'll show you what I mean.

It's a good looking tartan and it will look even better once it is made up. As they say 'It's only a matter of time.'

I don't suppose that anyone has ever died of waiting - it just feels that way!

Go figure!
Could swear I already posted pics to this thread - but they ain't here so will try again.
I got the 16 ounce wool fabric from Strathmore through the RAF outlet - Arthur Mackie. They had some extra 16 ounce that was originally woven for the RAF pipe band. Kathy Lare sewed it up. In honor of my late father's service as a Flying Sergeant with the RAF in 1942. A Montana boy gone back to help save the homeland. He flew mostly Hurricanes with 59 OTU and was at Dieppe. He transferred to the Army Air Corps in Sept 1942 and flew P-39s in North Africa withthe 346th Fighter Squadron. Was shot down at Kassarine Pass. Fortunately for me, he survived with the help of the retreating 1st Armored.
Anyhow, mine is actually pleated to the sett too. I left it up to Kathy to choose what looked best, and I'm most pleased with it. These pics aren't very good, but give some sense of knife pleating to the sett.
Had considered military box pleats, but Kathy thought it would be a bit much. Again, followed her advice.

I love how the pleats dance in the wind. Threw in some color looks too. A very versatile tartan.

You have posted them before, Ron. But it was about 18 months ago. They are what alerted me to the RAF tartan in the first place. And it was these pictures that made me decide to go for the sett rather than the stripe. I love this tartan more and more each day.

Ron,
You did post some photos in this thread already, just not on this forum.
I like the different photos. I don’t think I will ever tire of seeing this tartan

Jordan, when you have the kilt made up, you will have to have pictures taken with Alex wearing his RAF kilt.
And Riverkilt, that is a most interesting (and precarious) mountaintop you were walking on!
Great pictures nonetheless.

Just the roadside scenic view from the hills above Palm Springs, California...camera angle makes it look more daring. Windy though.
