Go figure!
Could swear I already posted pics to this thread - but they ain't here so will try again.
I got the 16 ounce wool fabric from Strathmore through the RAF outlet - Arthur Mackie. They had some extra 16 ounce that was originally woven for the RAF pipe band. Kathy Lare sewed it up. In honor of my late father's service as a Flying Sergeant with the RAF in 1942. A Montana boy gone back to help save the homeland. He flew mostly Hurricanes with 59 OTU and was at Dieppe. He transferred to the Army Air Corps in Sept 1942 and flew P-39s in North Africa withthe 346th Fighter Squadron. Was shot down at Kassarine Pass. Fortunately for me, he survived with the help of the retreating 1st Armored.
Anyhow, mine is actually pleated to the sett too. I left it up to Kathy to choose what looked best, and I'm most pleased with it. These pics aren't very good, but give some sense of knife pleating to the sett.
Had considered military box pleats, but Kathy thought it would be a bit much. Again, followed her advice.

I love how the pleats dance in the wind. Threw in some color looks too. A very versatile tartan.
