Great photos by the way, thanks for sharing!

I didn't give it more than a passing glance as I drove by, but it looked like a BSA 500cc single circa 1939. The engine in the Beezer was a horizontal single, and they were affectionately known as "hemorrhoid hammers" by those unfortunate enough to have to ride them. In the mid-1960s you could by an ex-WD Beezer for about GBP150 in the crate, and a spare engine/gearbox was about GBP35.

...er, actually, I think these bikes (or ones very much like them) were made in India until quite recently. My guess is that the Indian-built bikes probably went out of production sometime in the 1970s.
There is an active vintage motorcycle movement in the UK, and I'd guess you could probably find an ex-service bike (BSA M20) without too much difficulty.
Hmm... it would look pretty nifty painted up in WWII Royal Navy colours... ith:

It wouldn't be Royal Enfield Motorbikes you're thinking of, would it?
They're still very much around.

Although it does appear that the smaller 350 isn't available in the US any more

It was a picture perfect day both Sat & Sun. Sandy and I had come from TN and were only there on Saturday, Sunday was the day we had to continue on north to PA. I hope it's a picture perfect day in Latrobe when we'll get to meet.

Anyhow, I could very well be wrong; although I'm really into British cars, I'm not much of a motorcycle guy.

Too many projects right now to justify purchasing another bike but in the future maybe. Right now I just like to look at the old service bikes and dream of one day when i can afford to pick up and restore something older than the 60's.
