    I'd be careful about that one. If you hang your sporran for storage, you run the risk that you will distort the leather straps through which your strap or ring keeper goes, and that then when you actually wear your sporran, it will jut out at an angle instead of laying straight and close against your kilt apron. If you are going to hang it, don't hang it by the belt strap or keeper, have it hung by some other part of the sporran.

    At this time, I can't think of anyplace where I will be needing it. I do have another, a "plain leather" sporran that I will prolly use. But, if I do need Stinky, I will just have to "wake" him up

    I wrap my sporrans in cotton towels and store them in a dresser drawer. On occasion I take them out to check on (admire) them. I know, I'm not right in the head!

    That's a possibility, but my dress sporran is light enough, and the leather stiff enough, that after storing it like I do for 3 years, it still looks almost new. My day sporran, on the other hand, is starting to show a lot of wear on the ring keeper. I may need to replace that in the near future, so I know exactly what it is you're talking about. I will deffinately have to keep an eye on that.

    Cool

    Depending on the size of the sporran - you might be able to find cloth men's shoe bags at your local men's furnishings store - they are usually a soft cotton with a drawstring closure - then just put the drawstring over the hook part of of a clothes hanger and into the closet it goes !!

    I too go with the hang-in-the-closet method, but I add a cloth garment bag to keep the dust off, and a few cedar chunks to keep the bugs out. Not that I have dust or bug problems...I just figure it is cheap insurance for a costly accessory.

    My sporran is made from pretty stiff leather, so I'm not too concerned with it losing its' shape. I figure that it is no different hanging in the closet than it is hanging around my waist.

    I store my kilt, kilt belt, pin, sgian dubh, hose, etc. in similar garment bags with cedar blocks too. They all hang together in a row.

    Lightbulb

    I guess it depends on how much stuff you have, but rather than trying to find homes in my already minimal clothing storage space for all the sporrans, kilt hose and flashes, big belts, kilt pins and blades etc... I got a set of these storage deals from Target;

    Plenty of room for my kit, and no more digging in the sock drawer!

    That's my solution as well! Other than my sporran, why worry about hanging my socks?!?!

    I wasn't gonna say it... I've never seen a mask sporran that I didn't think looked like road kill.
