Need some quick advice on a sporran

I think grey is always tricky. It tends to look better (to my jaundiced eye) with more texture- think grey flannel over say, grey satin. The German military used grey leather a lot. But I am betting it would be easy to overdye. In fact, I'd bet $17 on it.
