    Longhuntr's new (and old) kilt

    Hi all,

Had a chance to surprise Longhuntr this morning with a kilt that a friend of his ordered for him as a surprise for his birthday. My husband was there taking pictures at the diner, where we had breakfast. If you want to read Longhuntr's account of the story, he also posted some pics at

Longhuntr also just finished his own first kilt last night - a beautifully stitched regimental weight Black Watch kilt. He did a great job, and you can see the kilt that he made in the first picture below:

    That she is...

    A peach indeed!

For the record, the kilt I'm wearing in these pics is indeed made by me, but it's not mine. The same friend that bought me the kilt will be the new owner of it. I made it for him and he and I just happen to have near identical measurements! Apron is kinda lifted up in the pics...damned booth seat in the diner...I should have adjusted when I stood up!!

I know some of you are thinking it's odd for ME to be wearing HIS kilt. Since he knew I was going to have breakfast with Barb and that she was going to be giving me his gift, he insisted that I wear his kilt to show her my handiwork.

I started this kilt back in February (I think)...and it took me somewhere around 40-50 hours of work. I don't think I'll be looking to become a professional kiltmaker any time soon!!! However, I do have a whole other 8m length of the same fabric that is waiting to be made into a kilt for me...still unsure whether it will be box pleated or knife pleated...too many decisions!

Super pics, great story Barb, not many friends would go the extra mile and order a surprise kilt.
